All I can say is BBHD baby! What an innovative and delicious bánh mì variation. I’ve been eating bánh mì since before I can walk, and this is absolutely worth the visit. Authentic sandwiches served by amazing staff.
They’ll be my primary sandwich spot moving forward.
Whenever you are in the Stonestown neighborhood and craving a delicious Vietnamese sandwich, Banh Mi Love is a solid choice.
I like their Red Curry Spicy Tofu Sandwich, which has good baguette-like bread that tastes fresh, the usual trappings of banh mi (pickled carrots, onions, cucumber, cilantro) along with firm tofu that is seared and a red curry aioli that doesn't overpower. With just the right amount of mild sweetness, every bite has the crunch of the bread, and the deliciousness of the seared tofu. They have a gingery tofu banh mi as well for vegetarians, but I find it a tad too sweet for my palate.
Tip: Head there for lunch, and beat the lines by ordering on their website. They shut around 4.30 pm on most days.
The location is strange inside the front door of a medical center, but don’t let that stop you from trying it. It is my new favorite place for bahn mi. It’s simple, delicious, and very reasonably priced. There is no in-house seating though so know that it’s pick up exclusive. Regardless, a very clean shop with quality customer service at the register. I highly recommend trying it.
We used to go to Dinosaurs on Ocean, but now Banh Mi Love is our go to place. Great selection with friendlier service! The Garlicky Chicken sandwich and BBHD with dipping sauce are awesome! Wash it down with a passion fruit lemonade and YUM!
September 2022:
Stopped by for lunch and tried the tofu banh mi. This place is a bit hard to find. You have to walk into the main lobby of the medical building on the corner. Once inside, go past the elevators to the left.
I thought the tofu banh mi was really tasty. Bread 🍞 was perfect. Like a traditional banh mi sandwich where the bread is airy. 👍
Tofu was soft and fluffy. They put a red curry sauce that went well with the pickled carrots and jalapenos. Overall, great sandwich! Glad that there's a great Vietnamese sandwich option in this part of the city!
