We had a reservation yesterday for dinner at the Tosca Cafe pop-up at St. Joe's, and a bit before our reservation we got a call from Shannon with Tosca/Park Tavern saying that the Tosca pop-up had just been shut down temporarily for a permitting issue, but they could offer us a table at Park Tavern for the same time and would take good care of us. We happily accepted because we also love Park Tavern, and when we arrived they had a table waiting for us and complimentary glasses of champagne. Shannon came to our table to personally apologize and offer to reschedule us at Tosca, and she also comped our ENTIRE meal and drinks at Park Tavern, which was so generous. The food was wonderful, service was top notch, and this gesture to cover our meal went above and beyond. We will certainly be back to both Tosca and Park Tavern!
One of our favorite places in SF. Consistently good thoughtful service, delicious meals and nice staff! Their COVID protocols made us feel safe when we sat outside.
Looks very nice. Great atmosphere.
Crowded bar (but there was a conference in town) so cant really comment about the bar.
Greeted right away. And seated quickly for our reservation. Very professional.
Great wait staff also, brought water and took my drink order right away. We had a big group that liked to talked but the staff was great.
Most of the food came out perfect. Everyone was happy. But my steak came out way way over cooked (maybe there was a mix up?) but then when the second steak came out it was so fatty and grisly that it was inedible. If you are going to charge $42 for a steak it should be cooked properly and be a decent cut, in my opinion (save the grisly steak for the people that order their steak well done you know?). Manager was very professional and brought me the short rib which was wonderful and cooked perfectly. He did a great job of turning the experience around for me.
All in all great space, great waitstaff, and management was good. Chef might need to watch the grill guy more. But I’d give them a second chance.
We came in for a burger, which was good. I asked for a medium rare and got perfectly pink meat - already a win in my book! However, other than that it was nothing special. The lettuce and fries reminded me of fast food burger - tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary. The deviled eggs were great, the big highlight of the evening for me. The creme brulee was also good.
For all visiting SF I recommend a short stroll from tourist oriented restaurants and visiting Park Tavern at Washington sq. The food is great with gourmet quality at more than fair price. Not to forget there's a decent beer card.
