Kuma | Nori Shokudo

We were so disappointed after visiting this new neighborhood restaurant. Do not get the katsu don by all means! We received 2 giant piece of pure FAT out of the 4 pieces of meat. The entire dish was so greasy, breading was falling off, meat was tender but flavorless. We told the waiter that we did not like the fat, and waiter told us that authentic Japanese katsu are made with fat and it’s normal to see this in Japan. 🤨

I did enjoy the crab pasta tho, which is why leaving this a 3 star.

Really fantastic spot. Great food, great vibe! Definitely a gem in the Milbrae/Burlingame area. Definitely need to come back to get the Tomagoyaki (so popular they ran out)!

This place is a gem! Delicious food and amazing service! We ordered katsudon and spicy pasta (with fried softshelled crab and spicy cream sauce) for 2 people and we left full and so satisfied. Staff was so friendly and attentive! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!!

Hands down the best Japanese + Hawaiian restaurant in the Bay Area. Kuma Katsudon & Wagyudon are a must. Really nice vibes too. Service is on point. Highly recommend for your next date night! Family friendly too! MUSTGO!!!

We've eaten at Morning Wood multiple times, including when it was located in San Bruno and San Mateo, so we were excited to try out their new concept, Kuma Nori. We got a table on the first Friday the week they opened and had such a great meal.

Every dish was delicious, from the scotch egg with the most delicious mashed potatoes with oxtail sauce, to melt in your mouth scallops, to the rice with butter, chili, and sous vide egg. Service was great, the wait staff was obviously experienced and very friendly. No hiccups for opening week. We'll definitely be back.
