Nice izakaya that just opened up recently. The interior is modern and has a nice ambiance to it. Staff is very nice and friendly. We ordered the crispy chicken skin, sake clams, and several meat skewers (chicken thigh, heart, cartilage/knee, oyster + pork cheek + bacon wrapped onion). Everything was delicious! Also got a yuzu shochu cocktail that was great.
Overall, a nice addition of a Japanese restaurant in Menlo Park area.
Reservation is a must. It took us two hours waiting in the line. The food and service is great, and the price is there. The food size is very small, please order more. The inner decoration is great, and the atmosphere is of authentic Japanese style.
Wonderful meal and experience at this new izakaya restaurant in Menlo Park. All the food items we ordered were perfectly cooked, with great flavors and nice presentation. Very friendly and attentive staff enhanced the overall experience. Small parking lot in the back of the restaurant.
The moment you walk into the restaurant, you are greeted with a sleek and stylish ambiance with a buzzy and energetic atmosphere. The restaurant is designed to evoke an old-world Japanese feel, with warm lighting, wooden accents, and a minimalist aesthetic. The spacious dining area provides ample room for both intimate gatherings and larger groups.
The service at Drunken Monk was amazing - the staff was very attentive and knowledgeable.
I loved everything about this meal from beginning to end.
Wonderful izakaya meal! Everything off the robata grill was so satisfying and the chawanmushi was the perfect texture with lots of fun surprises in it. Made me think I was in Tokyo for a few hours! Worth making a reservation as I could imagine it getting quite crowded in no time. Service was terrific and interior is decorated very nicely.
