One of the best 24 hour places in the bay. Pie is great but the other portions are large enough I usually end up too full for it. Our go-to for after concerts (or really anything that goes late)
Waitress was amazingly friendly. The food wasn't as fresh as it could've been, tasted bland, but overall good enough to eat. Peach pie was delicious. Probably wouldn't come back but it was a nice experience
Nice staff. Good pies. Ok food. Heidi's has been there for ages - close to 50 years. The staff has always been great, and the pies were always the go to for desert and coffee. The food is only OK though. Portions are good sized and the prices are good, so the price vs portion vs quality thing all works out.
The parking lot can pack up, with more cars in the lot than people in the restaurant, and of course people come in the wrong way, or block traffic while other people look for a spot.
If you're going to grab a pie to go, or get a slice and some coffee, Heidi's is a San Mateo fixture.
Heard this place described as a “ pulp fiction ” looking place, I could kinda see it too. Heidi’s pies is a place set in the past, a place where you could grab a great piece of pie and a good cup of coffee. Had a southern fried chicken sandwich and my lovely girlfriend had a French dip ( not me, I am Norwegian ). Later we had coffee and pie, mine with a scoop of ice cream. It was not so busy when we got there, and didn’t get too much busier. Service was great and quick.... had a good time.
My husband use to come here almost every morning before school while he was attending Serra. We stopped in one day with our daughter to try it out. He immediately said that almost everything was the same, meaning the decor. He loved that it gave him that nostalgic feeling. The food was also delicious!
