You know when you had good Vietnamese food when you leave and think "this is not another pho joint". Some quickly performed Yelp researched resulted in us picking this place for a quick lunch, and it turned out to be a great choice.
We got to try the BBQ SHRIMP & CHICKEN combo ($11) that was nicely flavored and well presented on a large plate. The BEEF MIGNON SOUP ($9) was rich and took on the flavor from the tender meat that had some chunks of fat to it - flavorful. My stomach only take so much - so next time the rest of the colorful menu will be explored.
Ben Tre is right on Grand in South San Francisco and quite the popular spot - usually there's a line but it moves quickly.
Ben Tre is our company's go to lunch spot on Friday Afternoon's. They have about seven or eight comfortable places to sit outside and is a great place to eat on a sunny day. The service could be a bit better but Friday's are one of their busiest times. You don't need a reservation and wait times are typically not very long. I would recommend eating here.
My Take: a celebrated Vietnamese joint serving traditional dishes | Went For: Sunday lunch | The Vibe: caters all everyone -- friends, families, tourists | Special Dish: Bun Bo Hue, Grill Chicken Thigh over Vermicili | Avoid Their: n/a | Price Point: most entrees are under $13.00 | The Service: quick, easy and straight-forward | Reservations: n/a | FYI, FRIENDS: unlike the city, there's actually parking! In a spacious lot, too! -- Eat up, Kimmie
I ate at this place last night for dinner. It was pretty damn good if I say so myself. The broth was fantastic. The food was brought out fast and there was a lot of it. I will definitely come back if I get the chance seeing as how I'm from out of town.
Great pho! Best I've had in the peninsula so far :)
Good amount of meat and noodles. Broth is clear and flavorful.
They sometimes forget orders though. So make sure you get what you wanted!
