If you enjoy hazy ales, this is your place. Indoor or outdoor on the patio, great environment. Also has 2 food vendors on site, vegan or Cuban.
This is a nice spot at the back of a split unit on lower state. It’s got a modern tropical vibe with ample outdoor seating. I would, however, recommend more shade covering now that it’s summer time!
Good beer, of course, and it’s awesome that the food is all vegan. The chile verde cheese fries were pretty tasty. I’d suggest omitting the grilled soy, and it would be great if they offered them over tortilla chips as nachos to add some textural variation.
New place in town but some of the best beers I've ever had. Also there food although all vegan is the bomb. Can only recommend to anyone who loves to drink good beer in a cool/hip environment.
So excited to see that Modern Times opened up a branch in Santa Barbara! A little hidden away behind another restaurant, so I walked by the State Street entrance a few times before I found it. All-vegan menu with plenty of great beer options. Good selection of sours, IPAs, lagers, and stouts. The Beyond Burger is worth it. Large dog-friendly patio in the back with heating lamps and tables. Best part -- they're actually open late on weekends! Will go again soon.
They've got a wide selection of beers and the seating area is large and nice. The bar is shaped a bit oddly which makes it difficult to serve more than a few people at a time. Outside of their preselected flights though it gets expensive to create your own flight. Although some of the beer was solid, of the 8 beers we tried nothing stood out. You're paying a premium for the ambiance rather than the quality of the beer.
