Taqueria El Grullense M & G

This is my all-time favorite Mexican restaurant in Palo Alto. Very authentic. Everything I've ordered here is the REAL thing - "Just-like-grandma-makes" homemade style. I stop by here at least once a week to eat tacos for a quick, healthy meal. They have a nice long counter space along the large windows with stools - which is perfect for "solo dining". Females can feel comfortable walking in here alone: The staff is super friendly - and you can eat in peace ???? The salsa bar is AWESOME. The Red Hot sauce is ESPECIALLY unique and ~delicioso~ I always judge a Mexican shop by whether or not the tortilla chips are complimentary and whether they are made on-site. Tortilla chips should ALWAYS be free at a Mexican restaurant. Any place that charges for chips doesn't follow basic Mexican restaurant hospitality. This place offers abundance of freshly-made tortilla chips and they dont charge you extra ???? I highly recommend getting lime from the salsa bar and sprinkling it on your chips and tacos - SO Classic Mexican Yummy! This place gets Gloria DeFelix's "Authentic Mexican Restaurant Certificate of Approval" ????

Closest legit taqueria to Stanford. Prices are good for the area, and portion sizes are great (the burrito and chimichanga are almost as long as my forearm - granted, I have small arms). They have free chips and salsa that you can eat while waiting for your food. Overall, good food for a hungry college student when the dining halls get tiring.

A very delicious place with large serving sizes for the price. I would recommend to anyone looking for some good Mexican food! Plus the chips come with the meal!

"El Gru" has great food, friendly service, and plenty of seating. Would highly recommend the super taco -- it has everything you could want in a taco! Added bonus is that they accept credit card and have pretty hearty portions.
