Hong Kong Restaurant

Hong Kong Cantonese style Chinese comfort food. Not real fancy, but nicely prepared so you taste the flavors of the fresh ingredients instead of heavy sauces. Large portions for inexpensive prices. Fast service. There is parking along the side and behind the building.

Restaurant has been around for many years, serving Cantonese styled cuisine. Decor is a bit old and so was the cooking style. The beef in the stew pot was kind of tough, the fish was fishy. Fried rice and tofu were okay.

If you're starving at 3 PM and all the other Chinese restaurants in Palo Alto are taking their afternoon break, this is is the place to go.

The food here is your typical Canton-style dishes. We had the beef stew in claypot and the Peking duck. The beef stew was really good. The flavors of the beef, radish, and green onions really blend well together and the stew itself goes great over rice. On the other hand, the Peking duck was some of a disappointment. As usual, it came with the Chinese-styled pancakes, shredded green onions, and the sauce. You're supposed to put the duck into the folded pancake with green onions and slather it sauce. The problem is that they didn't remove the bone from the duck, making it hard to eat it the way you're supposed to.

Overall, was a pleasant experience. The waiter was friendly and gave us complimentary appetizer soup and desert soup too.

This is a very reliable and consistent Cantonese restaurant. All the menu items that I have tried are delicious. The food comes out very quickly, which I appreciate and the service is good. I like the fact that they stay open during the day, rather than closing in the middle of the day, as many other restaurants do.....which means I can get a late lunch at 2:30 for example. Parking can be an issue, as the parking lot is limited. Reasonable prices, too.

We didn't know where to go in the city so we just started walking around and stumbled onto this gem. Let me say the food is DELICIOUS. Everything we ordered was full in flavor, fresh, and just what we wanted. The portions were huge!! The small hot and sour soup was big enough to feed 10 people! Everything was brought out in under ten minutes. Very fast, friendly service. All at an extremely affordable price. We will be returning.
