We love to find new places that make pupusas. Most of them are out of the way from our daily lives. Was excited to see this place on my way home from my new location of work. In general, they were pretty good but a little greasy. We tried the pork/bean/cheese, the carnitas, and the zucchini/cheese ones. I wouldn't say no to ordering them again. 😉
My Torta Asada was the smaller size but still a larger portion than I could eat! It was delicious! A homemade mixed fruit juice was very good as well. The atmosphere is casual.
Nice sit down or to-go restaurant. Had the traditional pupusas and a fruit drink. Also try the chicken soup. Both items for fresh and delicious. The drink was very refreshing!
We went to Chalateco for the first time recently. This is a simple place. Like others said: folding tables and metal chairs. The experience is not very different from a Taco truck, but it’s still a restaurant. And people are super nice. My kids really liked the flautas. I tried one as well, they are nice. I had the tacos with asada and pastor. Also nice, if anything a little on the greasy side. We didn’t try any of the Salvadorian dishes, they have pupusas that look nice. The Horchata was definitely too sweet. All in all, it’s not a “wow” place, but it’s ‘around the corner’ and has decent food. We will go there again. And I give it 4 stars for what it is.
