Original Joe's San Jose

Food was great!
I ordered a Joe's Special Cheeseburger but received a Joe's Special which I ate anyways and was delicious. The waiter asked if I wanted mushrooms and I said yes please well done. I don't like sending food back in fear of getting a tainted meal. I didn't see the waiter after I ordered, his shift was probably over no big deal. When I told the server I ordered a burger he looked perplexed and asked if I was going to be happy with the dish. I told him yeah no big deal. I only say all this to caution everyone to order a Joe's Special "Burger" and not the Joe's Special. All in all it was a great experience. Came here after Christmas in the Park. I never had so many mushrooms in my life and it was a good portion that really hit the spot. I regret not ordering the lasagna but I would still come back. Thank you Original Joe's!

Excellent. My prime rib dinner was delicious..meat like butter..so tender.. perfect thanks you're chef for me. ..my wife loves the sweetbread ...

Food was pretty good. I felt the lasagna was lacking a bit of flavor but still really enjoyable. Huge portion with the price to go along with it. It's expensive! The ambiance is very retro. They have been around for a very long time with probably not many changes. Long waits on Saturday night for sure.

The classic is still open and doing a brisk business at least during my visit on a Wednesday evening. It had been over a decade since my last stop at original Joe's and now dating back 50 plus years as a family favorite. Prices have gone up do not expect a bargain meal but you don't feel cheated with the value and the size of the portions. Excellent service continues through the generations of staff. Prime rib was solid disregard many of the comments you might see here about gristle and poor quality there was nothing wrong with this piece of meat.

If you are looking for a delicious and quiet place for dinner, well, Original Joe's definitely has the delicious down! The prime rib was FANTASTIC, your mouth will thank you even if your waistline doesn't. The salad was fresh and crisp and a perfect appetizer, and unfortunately I left my slice of chocolate cake in the car and wasn't able to enjoy it.

The service was just as good as the food, with everyone being so kind and attentive. And while the atmosphere wasn't exactly quiet, it was certainly positive and there was a current good feeling in the air.

Highly recommending the prime rib! One of the best I've ever had!
