Chutneys Udupi Fusion Restaurant

Host was very friendly and attentive. Place wasn't crowded, so kids ran around. And host was gracious to not interrupt. Food was ok. My favorite was onion bhaji. Dessert was quite tasty as well. I loved the rava kesari. Paneer dosa was good as well.

We were excited to try this new Indian fusion restaurant and drove 8 miles to here for dinner. The servers were courteous and the ambience was very neat and nice. But, the food wasn't anything great to mention about.
We read all the previous reviews and decided to purchase dahi vada, Karam podi idly and paneer moilee dosa, the last 2 supposed to be their bestsellers. The vada in the dahi vada was very hard. The Karam podi idli was a bad attempt at so called fusion. The podi and the idli by itself was pretty good. But the addition of the cabbage, capsicum salad bed that was tossed in podi just didn't go with it. The paneer moilee dosa was pretty underwhelming. It's a good dosa but the stuffing was very less and had only a mild flavor from it.
Overall, they really need to introspect their food. They should focus on their strengths and shouldn't try to do unnecessary fusions for the sake of it.

Good ambience, cutleries and food presentation.

Karam podi idly (gun powder) was a good try. Deceived by the name, it wasn't spicy and doesn't look like a usual podi idly but rather like idly with some salady toppings.

Paneer moilee dosa was another good try with a peculiar taste and rich flavor. Liked their sambars and chutneys.

Disappointed with mysore bonda as it was oily.

The food was very good. If you are looking for some south indian breakfast but with a little fusion that is healthy too this is the place to go. We had the Karapodi idi (it had veggies on it), Methi Chaman paneer dosa, Moolie paneer dosa and all these are good. Chutneys are really good too (especially the bottle guard one). Highly recommended.
