That's about all they have is pizza. Even the salad selection is really modest. But if you like pizza, it's worth the climb up the steps of an old brick building with plenty-of-history. The dining room is cheerful, the service is great. Old Chicago is a delightful change from the wipe-down corporate environments that you get from Round Table, et al., which are dominating the pizza industry.
The deepest heaviest Chicago deep dish I've ever had. Very generous toppings. I cant even finish one piece myself.
Staff is either really great or not at all, depending on who you get.
Love the whole experience here. It's almost like a secret were the building is located. Pizza is amazing too, not many places left that cook a good deep dish pizza
The deep dish pizza is super tasty and the dough has a good taste to it. The restaurant is on the second floor. There is plenty of seating and even a private room I imagine you can rent. I got one of the 6$ salads totally worth the price. The olives come chopped into small pieces, it's so freaking good.
I haven't been to old Chicago in 3 years. 2 things stood out. The crust has gone downhill. It used to be the highlight of the pizza. It was flavorless and undercooked. The other thing was the service. We were seated promptly, ordered drinks off the bat and sat at waited. I looked at my pitcher sitting at the bar for 15 minutes and when they finally picked it up, the dude stirred it with a straw to "fluff" it I guess. We had no one check on us, and we waited 1 1/2 hours to eat. Which was ridiculous since it was pretty dead.
