Kabuki Japanese Restaurant

A general go-to sushi joint right downtown Petaluma. Although it's not overly Japanese fancy, it does have nice Nigiri and rolls.

The staff is friendly and the service is good.

Great food, good service. They handled our party of 15 without any issue.

We we're in Petaluma and in the mood for ramen. We chose Kabuki and got super.lucky with a parking spot right in front. The service was friendly and efficient. The ramen was mediocre. But the sushi was fantastic...

This place felt pretty average to me and it had some ups and downs.

The good: Good location right in downtown Petaluma. Reasonable prices, seemed like they have good lunch specials and happy hour specials and such. Relaxed atmosphere. Huge sushi menu and the sushi we had was pretty good.

The bad: Service was pretty slow and we had to remind staff what was in our sushi order. The non-sushi menu items we had were okay but not anything to write home about. I was especially excited about the curry and it was disappointing. The sauce was reasonably tasty but they only served a tiny little bit of it, not even enough to cover the meat let alone the rice.

All said, we were satisfied and I'd go there again. Can definitely recommend if you want something more convenient and good value and less fancy. But I'd probably recommend only ordering sushi.
