I don't know what everyone else has been thinking when ordering, but this is a biscuit and donut place. Get a chicken biscuit with cheddar or a fried green tomato with pimento or get a Cheerwine donut. I'm from NC and have been to the original store multiple times and can tell you that this place is bringing a little slice of NC to TO.
Seems like they're still working out kinks. Been there twice and there has been issues both times. They were out of regular biscuits at 9:30 on a Sunday morning last time we went so our pickup order took 10 minutes later than the pickup time. It is what it is I guess but when biscuits is all you do you should probably plan a little better. The food is good but the prices are a bit much. A biscuit with jam is $4 and their biscuits are not very big. That's pretty stiff for a fast food joint, especially when sit down places are charging $5 for 2 huge biscuits and gravy.
My first visit, today. I started with the Egg, Bacon and Cheese biscuit sandwich. You get to choose what kind of biscuit, I chose cheddar because, duh! You get to choose American cheese or cheddar and I chose cheddar. You get to choose how the eggs are cooked, I went with fried. Unfortunately, no sweet tea. So, I ordered the Arnold Palmer. The biscuit was tasty overall, but the bacon was not the best. It wasn't burnt, but it was too well done. Still, it was meatier thank Mc Donald's. The biscuit was light and fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside, just like it should be. Just to be safe, I ordered a glazed blueberry biscuit to go- it's essentially a biscuit donut. I'm coming back for biscuits and gravy and chicken. Now, it's time to get some exercise!
UPDATE: I just ate the glazed blueberry biscuit. I warmed it slightly in the microwave. Heaven, I tell you, heaven.
Met the owner at the register who was friendly and helpful as it was my first time.
Kept it simple in case I didn't like it and got a cheddar biscuit with runny egg, bacon and cheddar...it was just about like I remembered visiting my grandma in North Carolina minus that southern air. I can't wait to try the chicken.
Biscuit and chicken are good, pimento cheese is delicious. I prefer crispier fries though, and the seasoning was very unevenly spread. One of the biscuits in our order was missing at first, but they quickly remedied the issue. Also, there are only about 5 small tables outside the place, but no tables inside.
