Good food, nice location, nice people, however...

When the cashier asks "what kind of cheese would you like on that sandwich, would you like sprouts on that sandwich, would you like a tomato?', etc... they should tell the customer BEFORE they run the credit card, that they are charging the customer for every item on the sandwich that they just so casually asked the customer about.

Normally when I hear the question out of the blue "what kind of cheese would you like on that sandwich?" I assume that that the cheese is included with the sandwich and that I will not be surprised by finding a charge for cheese that I didn't even initially ask for. There was a 50 cent charge for lettuce for God sakes!

The only way that I knew that I was charged separately for each of these items was that I asked for the receipt, which was not given to me until I asked.

Having said all of that, l really do like the place and will continue to support it.

This is my kind of place!! Awesome coffee. Vietnamese Iced Coffee. Lattes. Fantastic baked goods. Fun merch. The workers seemed like they would be fun to hang with. Make sure to try this coffee shop if you are in town or driving by.

We came here 4 years ago and had a bad experience but decided to give this cute place another try during our latest visit.
I must say that I'm very pleased with our experience this time. I'm glad we gave it another try! The carrot cake and chai latte were excellent!

Brown Dog is our go-to coffee shop when traveling through Buena Vista and/or Salida. There's often a line, but the staff work quickly and it's always worth the stop. The Buena Vista location doesn't have much seating, but we normally grab it to-go anyway. The drip coffee varieties are great black; cream and sugar aren't needed when the coffee is high-quality. Most importantly, the green chili is authentic Colorado/New Mexico green chili 🙌.

Cool coffee shop! It has a great patio/deck where you can enjoy your coffee and pastry on a pretty day! Staff were super friendly. 5/5
