Blackbird Public House

I've got to give the Blackbird some love. It's become, as much as anywhere else, my local writing bar. The beer-on-tap selection isn't fantastic, though the IPA selection is good. The Blackbird's house wines and wine selection are better, consisting of tasty wines for good prices.

The food is excellent. It's bar food, but it's bar food done well. I have yet to order anything I don't like, and mollusks are divine.

The staff are friendly. They've put up with me, sitting at the corner of the bar to write for a few hours. They always come by when my drink is empty, checking on me but not checking too often. Blackbird does have televisions, and the bar staff do put the games on, but the TVs aren't obnoxiously large and they keep the volume off.

This is a neighborhood place, and it feels like one in the best possible way. Give it a try.

This year was the second year that we hosted our networking holiday fundraiser event at Blackbird and as usual, they did amazing! The food was fantastic and our wait staff (Marykate and Reuben) were more than accommodating our party of 35+. They do such an amazing job every time. Thank you again Blackbird for an amazing event!

I got the breakfast burrito which was really good - not soggy and still very flavorful. My husband got the chicken and waffles which he really enjoyed. Bottomless mimosas had plenty of bubbly. Not overly crowded on a Sunday morning and we didn’t have wait for a table.

Absolutely LOVED this place! I’m a massive foodie so I tend to be over critical, but the food was great while not being over priced and had that classic feel of home town food with a new spin. Marykate and Greta were great gave exceptional service through the night. We would probably come back just because we felt so welcomed by the staff. Thank you so much for the great night. I’ll definitely be back soon!

Nice little restaurant near Wash park. The entire wait staff was super friendly and helpful. The wings and mussels were good. The house margarita wasn’t my favorite but my beau’s Manhattan was tasty even with well whiskey. Need to come back and try the pies.
