Illegal Pete's DU

I moved to Denver this week from Phoenix and yesterday on Saturday I made my first visit to Illegal Pete's with my son and his 2 year-old granddaughter a little after noon on a sunny cold day near Denver University. We had a short line and I asked for the breakfast quesadilla but was informed it would take 15 minutes, I was reconsidering when the quesadilla cooking lady said it would be quick so I ordered it. I enjoyed my horchata while I waited for them to call my name and delivered it to our table. We got in just in time as the line grew all the way to the door while we ate. Our food was great and the large staff was happy and efficient. The place was very clean. I'll return, maybe for happy hour.

Used to live in Denver and when we come to town it's must for us. We got into town at 1am and so happy they're open late. We wish we had them out in Indiana we miss this place. Way better than Chipotle or any other burrito place. 10 out of 10 must try!!!

I never been to this place until one of my coworker told me about this place because he used to work at one of illegal Pete’s location. I went and stopped by to buy some food for work since I work nights at the hospital and our hospital cafeteria closes at 7pm. I thought the burrito bowl was really delicious! I like the fact that they are really close to Porter.

Illegal Pete’s represents exactly what Colorado is about. It’s not hood Mexican but authentic and original! Colorado is a bigger mixing pot then most states and we have created our own version of Mexican

I am from San Diego where we have really good Mexican food. I have been in Denver 2 months and have been disappointed with the Mexican food .... until I had a burrito at Illegal Pete's. I really liked the Carnitas, and the hot-hot sauce was just right. I will be back.
