I am very surprised by the negative reviews here. We have eaten here regularly for years. We always have excellent service and wonderful food. I don’t remember ever being disappointed here. Definitely give it a try. We ate at the Black Eyed Pea in Westminster after a long day of driving mountain roads to Estes and coming back to Westminster to our Air BnB. The waitress was very friendly, the place was not busy at all around 7:45 on a Monday night. This was also the first restaurant I think in Colorado who actually asked if we wanted drinks. The cups are also giant, to make the huge portions. I got the shepherd's pie which was very good, although a little odd there was a very thin layer of ketchup on top of the meat under the potatoes.

I got there well before the dinner rush, and at the beginning of a huge snowstorm, so it wasn't terribly crowded. The staff was very friendly, and on their game anyway. My drink order arrived quickly, but I wasn't pressured to order quickly. That's nice!

I enjoyed the chicken fried steak with jalapeno gravy, some red beans & rice, and (on my server's recommendation) the broccoli rice. Everything was done perfectly and arrived hot.

    Ya can't beat that.

Wide variety of food. Everything tasted great. My friend got the turkey dinner with mashed potatoes and stuffing. An amazing amount of food for under $15 (we went for lunch). I got the chef salad - also very good and enough left-over for dinner. Our waitress was particularly good.

We enjoyed our visit. Arrived late, about 8:15, yet we were enthusiastically greeted and felt no pressure. Food was hot and delicious. Thanks for a great late experience.

I would actually rate this place 4.5. I took .5 off because they were out of rolls and corn bread. Apparently they got slammed with customers and couldn't keep up with the freshly baked rolls. We did get the bread slightly after we got our food. Speaking of food, it was delicious! I had chicken fried chicken with a salad and corn kernels. The salad was fresh and crisp and the chicken fried chicken with cream gravy was tender and moist. My husband had the pot roast and meat loaf combo. His pot roast wasn't dry and the meat loaf tasted home made. He liked the ketchup sauce so much he asked for extra. The Black-eyed Pea is consistently good.
