Ports to Plains Travel Plaza

This is a favorite of ours. The coffee is real good! The food never disappoints & is reasonably priced.
We come here whenever we camp at John Martin reservoir.

The first things I noticed: the place had lots of parking and the building, fuel islands have seen better days. (Other reviews state that it's a "mom & pops" place with locals running it so, some of the condition makes sense - costs a lot to upgrade.) I used the restroom. It was clean and in good order. I had breakfast, the buffet. I was disappointed. Yes, the price was fair, considering the rise in food prices, but food grade was mediocre with very little variety. I particularly thought the scrambled eggs were over overcooked (I passed on those). The gravy seemed instant/subpar as well. (Not the southern gravy I've come to love.) The waitress I had was pleasant and accommodating. Despite the negatives I pointed out, I'd probably come here again. I believe in supporting local businesses. They need money in order to eventually improve their deficiencies. Be safe out there, folks. Thank you!

So first off when I pulled in about 9:30 pm the restaurant was closed BUT the lady working the register made up for this by giving me and my son 1/2 off for our hotbox items. Will definitely be back again because in my book that was top-notch service. Also there was still tons of parking when I closed my curtains to sleep an hour later. Definitely added to my "must stop" list from here on out 🤙
