Excellent food. We ordered a platter with cheeses and cured meats that was plentiful with fruits and nuts, delicious with wine. My busban’s main dish’s meat was so tender, you didn’t need a knife to cut into it. It melted in our toungue, with a side of mashed potato that was exquisitely done. I ordered the chicken dish which was crunchy, with mixed greens and it was delicious too.
The service was A+++. Very cozy, romantic, good prices. Will Return soon for that meat dish.
Tiny place that you might miss - it'll be your loss!
This cozy joint on Summer is one of the few places in Stamford that actually has character. The decor, while minimalist, is long on dark wood, giving the place exactly the right vibe you need to be able to focus on the person you're with (and that's a good thing!).
The food is classic french bistro, and excellently done at that. The wine list is small, but excellent, with generous pours.
When you add in the friendly staff who are more than happy to spend time with you (or not!), well, what more could you ask for?
I wanted to like it...was coaxed in by waitstaff looking to fill tables on a busy Friday (for everyone else on Summer St.). A party of 4 at one of the few tables was so loud we almost left immediately but hung in to try the food. Place is new, I get it, but note to owner...service will make or break you. Diners will forgive middling food quality if they are wowed by attentive, knowledgeable staff. It doesn't work the other way around...if the service sucks, you won't be saved by great food. And with seating for maybe 20 people max, you won't be able to turn enough tables to survive on Summer St. The shrimp and grits was superb, duck wings app (highly rec'd by waiter) was OK. The place is small...I wouldn't call it cozy because the brick and mirror walls do not absorb any sound. Good luck.
I have eaten at Cafe Noir several times. The service and food are wonderful. The atmosphere is quaint. If you are looking for a romantic spot take the trip to this hidden gem on Summer Street.
