745 Osteria

As local residents, we were really looking forward to this place opening. Been there twice and the service and atmosphere are great. Food however and charges for "ice" are a different story.
Between the two visits with my husband, we tried the lasagna, the cheese pizza and two other pasta dishes. The lasagna was very pasty and a small portion (as were the other portions) and the pizza was plain. The two Italian dishes were very heavy and plain. We ordered two drinks each on both visits and each drink was accompanied by a $2.00 per drink ice charge so an additional $8.00 for ice. This is ridiculous and they should be embarrassed to charge this. There is no notice about it up front and it is clearly stated on the bills "$2.00 for ice". I saw on other reviews the same complaint and the restaurants response was that it must have been a mistake as they don't charge for ice.....
Went as recently as a few days ago so it is still happening.
Unfortunately, we won't be returning any time soon.

Only complaint is it was a little chilly because the AC was to high. Food and service excellent!

This was our first time dining at 745 Osteria. They were quite busy at 6:30 on a Saturday night but we managed to get right in and sat at the bar, which is our preferred seating area. The bartender, Marylyn, was very very pleasant and her service was outstanding. We had old Fashioneds that were perfect. For an appetizer we ordered the 745 Bread Service which included 3 different homemade breads and was delicious. Our entrees were the Chicken Parmigiana and the Rigatoni Bolognese and both were spectacular. There are many great places to eat in Old Saybrook and 745 Osteria is the newest one on the list. We highly recommend this new Eatery in town.

An amazing experience! Everything was delicious. The service was exceptional. A "must go" place for any foodie. I highly recommend this restaurant to any true Italian food lover.

We went to check this place out on their second night open, and it was a more than positive experience! The atmosphere of the patio was perfect, food was great. Pasta was incredible. Most of all the service was excellent. We were served by Charlie, who was super nice and very attentive! This is looking like it is going to be a great new spot in town and we will definitely be back.
