Not enough superlatives available to describe authentic food and staff. Best Indian food we have found in Connecticut, served in a relatively small but welcoming venue by attentive but not overbearing team.

Himalaya Cafe is definitely a hidden gem! I live in Essex and cannot believe I did not know about this place till my friend mentioned it over dinner one night. I went in with my husband and as soon as we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly young lady. We sat at the bar area that faces an open kitchen! It was fun to watch our food being cooked right in front of us! We asked the young lady to give us some suggestions on what to order and she did a terrific job in explaining each and every dish despite it was busy she took her time. She took great care of us! For drinks I had the ginger lime which was amazing. My husband had a Belgium beer called Duvel which he loved! As for starters we ordered paneer tikka and samosas and for the Entree the 9 jewels korma and my husband ordered the Lamb both kebab with a side of sautéed mushroom and potatoes. Delicious delicious delicious! The food was so fresh and the spices were the right amount! We will be definitely coming back not just for the food and drinks but the relaxing ambiance and warm, welcoming and attentive staff who make the experience of dining at the Himalaya Cafe impeccable!

Great lamb tiki masala. Fabulous, quaint ambience. Staff is friendly and attentive yet not pushy, even on a busy Friday night. I've recommend Himalaya to all my friends.

My friends recommended me this place. I drove more than an hour to check this place out for a Friday late dining. It was an excellent dining experience.

The service was outstanding and the staff were very friendly. The management were extremely friendly as well. They were so passionate about what they were doing. They often come and ask if you are in need of anything else.

The food was amazing and so fresh. I was blown away from the first bite. It was a fantastic Indian food: aromatic and flavorful.

The decoration of the restaurant was authentic and peaceful. It was a cozy and warm environment to go with friends and family.

Overall, an awesome and authentic Indian cuisine! Highly recommend this place!
