We had a nice brunch here, celebrating my friend's birthday. The bloody Mary was just the right spiciness and my Irish coffee was delicious, though I hoped for a dollop of whipped cream. We shared eggs Benedict made with a salmon cake instead of Canadian bacon - it was good, though the Hollandaise could have been more lemony. We also shared a pile of pancakes that disappointed for the lack of a fruity option. The plentiful syrup promised to be pure 100% maple, but I wasn't so sure. Oak Haven gets a 4-star for high energy East Rock ambience and a friendly server who reminded me of my son who lives in Chicago. The bar was hopping at noon on a Sunday - I can only imagine the evening scene. If you don't like loud, though, skip Oak Haven.
Enjoy going there on date night for a relaxing atmosphere. Friendly staff. We like sharing the tapas like menu and having unique bourbon drinks.
Mac and cheese was very good. Don't taste blue cheese at all, nice and creamy texture and you get a good amount of I believe its Canadian bacon. My husband had the breakfast burger which was very fresh and tasty as well.
Wonderfully created cocktails and great selection of craft beers and wines. The food is seasonal, contemporary and modern, yet still delicious and easily accessible. Ambience is a perfect combination of chic and comfortable. Not to mention it's relatively affordable considering the cocktails and level of cuisine. The service is attentive and has a good sense of when to offer assistance vs when to back off and leave some space. Overall a great spot for dinner, quick snacks or just drinks. A highly recommended and underrated hidden gem in New Haven.
Really enjoyed coming here for the first time. The staff is what really surprised me the most. So happy to be working and not moody whatsoever. I loved the woodsy decor, very southern like. The quail egg appetizer was decadent and the Barrel Aged Manhattan is a hit for sure. Would recommend to friends and family.
