Island cho Caribbean cuisine

My family and I are all Jamaican born and raised. The food was BOMB, we got oxtail meals, potato salad, mac and cheese, rice and peas, and plantain cho. This was the first Caribbean restaurant we’ve tried in CT which has met and exceeded our expectations !

The food is good and it closely reminds me of home compared to other places in the area. It's lovely inside as well.

I would rate this restaurant as 5 stars but, it falls short in delivery time and prep time of orders. In due time I hope this improves. I'm assuming this restaurant is extremely low in staff since it seems new, but if you want to try the food I highly recommend you get pick-up, delivery is not worth it.

The prices are definitely more expensive compared to other places as well, but it's still a place you should try.

I went into this restaurant on Friday last week after seeing a post on Facebook. I've been there 5 times since then. Firstly I was so impressed with the face lift that was given to that place. When you walk in its so warm and inviting it gives such a welcoming vibe. My first order was Chicken roti, Oxtail and rice and beans Rasta pasta, Plantain cho and Shrimp wantons. Since then I think I've tried almost everything on the menu...My family loves the food my 7year old said it's by far the best food she's had in her life!!!!! The wait time for food is alot the first time I waited 45mins other customers were getting frustrated and the owner came out to apologise to everyone she was so polite and accommodating. I had to tell one customer we have to remember this is a small family owned business that has recently opened so we have to give them some time to figure out their kinks and the food is so fresh. I'm going back today and for anyone that's trying don't let the wait deter you the food is nothing short of Amazing!!!!!!!! I had to take time out of my day to acknowledge them. I wish them all the success. Island Cho we needed you in North Haven!!!!!!!

This is by far the best Caribbean food I have ever had!!!!!!! The owners and staff are so warm and welcoming, The restaurant is immaculate it is so inviting and beautifully put together it smells like you are walking into spa. It is worth every second of waiting because you can tell that your food is being prepared just for you!!!!! The fresh spices and herbs are vibrantly present in every dish you order. I love this place my kids love it my entire family loves it!!!!! My new favorite spot 😍 I wish them so much success 🙌

If you are from or have ever been to the Caribbean, you will be delighted by this newly opened restaurant as the food is authentic and delicious. The Curry Goat entree with sides of Rice and Peas along with Pumpkin were fantastic. Can't wait to go back!
