This was a great spot for dinner. We had the prefix menu and it was absolutely outstanding. The bar staff was great, the server was terrific, and the food was out of this world.
Underwhelming food. Overpriced food. Great service. Potato Gnocchi and beansprouts were excellent. Rabbit paparnelle pasta was dry and just ok. Tomato soup was terribly over-salted and grilled cheese crust was burnt. The fish dip was good, but the chips it came with were oddly black and salty. $250 for 4 people was a big bill. We did order plenty and got full, but I won't be returning.
Interesting and diverse menu for lunch. Duck casserole ($16) was very filling and well-seasoned. The smoked salmon ($15) however came with three sad minuscule blinis... Not enough to soak in both yolks from the poached eggs served with them so we asked for some bread to dip into the yolks... $4 billed. Café served in French presses ($5), one was already pressed when served and grains floated to cup, other was fine. Bus girl and host (filling water glasses) were great, they deserve the praise for their service.
I loved this place! It's a quiet, upscale bar/restaurant hidden on Eye Street. We went for happy hour and had great service at the bar. I'm always looking for nice neighborhood bars to open in the area, and this place is a great addition.
Service was super slow for lunch, waiting nearly 20 min to get our order in. A woman next to us gave up waiting and just walked out. I think the restaurant was understaffed with only two servers for a full restaurant. Food was also just okay. My salad with my sandwich was super salty, as if the chefs didn't taste the dressing. Or maybe their taste is just different than mine. The space is beautiful though. It'd be a fun place to get drinks.
