    Best west African food in DC. Arrive with some time on your hands. I enjoy the place best when the reggae music is on and the television volume is down all the way. Food is delicious. Good folks. Great place.

    Appioo African Bar and Grill has been my home for African food for about a year now. I drive 40 minutes from out of the city to satisfy my cravings for home cooked food and everytime it is worth it. My favorite dish is Waache (beans and rice) with your choice of protein. I can’t explain the poor reviews other than our fellow Africans are extremely critical of each other when things are bad but rarely compliment when things are good...The reason my rating is a solid 5 stars! I’m critical to a fault... This time though, I have to give credit where credit is due after a year of great service. Thank you, Mr. Prince and my favorite bartender Danielle!

    Come for the Pepper Soup! Everything we tried was delicious. My friend who has spent a lot of time in West Africa was raving about the authenticity of the food. I was looking to cope with being homesick for Bahamian food. This is legit

    Don't sit on this place! Seriously.... Tucked underneath the street level is one of the best food spots I have happened upon. I had never had traditional African food before and this food was exquisite!!!! And the waitress was super patient with all the excessive questioning about ingredients (I know, I know... Hate being that person but I was curious about everything!) We ordered multiple things and let me honestly tell you... EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!!! WOULD TOTALLY GO BACK!!!
