Great staff that were very friendly. I went to brunch and I had the shrimp po boy with the chipotle mayo sauce . AMAZING. I also had bottomless mimosas and never had to track down the bartender for a refill. Downstairs is a quieter area while upstairs had another bar, a DJ, and several local artist selling artwork. Not a bad place to catch a Sunday vibe. I'll definitely be back.
Expect this place to be noisy! Yes, it's a restaurant and people are going to talk and socialize while there; however, there's a line between socializing and having no regard for other diners' expectations of enjoying a meal without being distracted by yelling and uncouth behavior from the tables around them. I believe this is facilitated by the loud music (with plenty of bass) that greets you when you walk into the door. Management could facilitate having a less rambunctious environment by designating the upper level a "low noise zone" for diners who enjoy the food and conversation at a normal volume - without the theatrics from less civil patrons downstairs.
I was impressed by the size and portions of their food. Drinks are strong too!
Food and service were both good. This was my first time there and it was Christmas Eve so I was literally the only customer in the place so I don't know how meaningful my review is.
Probably the best sandwich I've had in DC. Po Boy Jim takes the heart and soul of New Orleans and puts it into an oversized and absolutely delicious sandwich. The oysters were cleaned perfectly with no bitter brine leftover. Creamy, sweet and delicious. The craw fish bring a taste of the South you rarely find this far north. Perfectly fried. Lots of hot sauce to go around. The staff is incredibly friendly. This food is made with love and the waiters make you feel like family.
