This is a decent spot for basic American interpretation of a French style Cafe /market. I expect better bread quality than there is. The food can be tasty and I favor breakfast over other times. The service can be hit or miss. Can be quite busy on weekends so plan accordingly.
Quality food and service
The food is generally good, and the mochas are among the best in DC. Service can be slow, however, so it's not the best place to go if you're in a hurry. There is also a take-out counter for beverages and bakery items.
Really exceptional food and pastries. I got the shakshuka (highly recommend) and have tried several pastries and muffins, all of which were delightful. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and the staff seems very devoted to the restaurant. Definitely worth sitting down and getting some food, but you can always get pastries from the counter if you are in a hurry.
I was shocked to find a really good price for the quality of cake that they offer. I bought a cake with a raspberry marmalade and vanilla custard covered with fresh fruits. My family really liked the cake. The dining area was big and the workers are super nice and polite.
