I have been here before and have been in other cities. The Calamari did not disappoint, the salad was wilted and we had to get another. The pizza was cold, but good. Service was excellent, I dont remember our servers name but she was cool.
Buca di Beppo is always a must stop when I'm in Washington DC. The staff is always welcoming and seeks to please their customers. The portions are very generous and we always have a take home box. Tonight we had chicken with a lemon butter sauce and capers, brussel sprouts with prosciutto, and a pasta dish with bacon, onions and their homemade sauce that was very good. Their dishes are available in two sizes - small (feeds 3) and large (feeds 5). If you're looking to feed a crowd, this is the place to go.
Plenty of good food, rooms (with different themes), pictures on all the walls, all types of tables (round, rectangular etc..) and seating. We had round table with spinning circular center that you spin around to pass people food etc since server can only stand at the entrance of the room where table is placed. Server was nice but there were a few times we needed to wait for her to come to the table.
Very good place for a family dinner. Food here is made to share, the small portions are for two people but they can easily serve 3 or 4 depending on how much you eat.
The ambience is really nice and you feel like you are in an old Italian Cantina.
I always have a great time here. Usually I'm with friends and that's of course part of it. But the food and service is so good. The best Italian food I've found in DC and I grew up in a very Italian town on Long Island, NY. I highly recommend it. Reasonable prices I think. Lots of good memories in this restaurant.
