The food is all unconventional but is other worldly as a result. Like eggs benedict with a cooked through egg and cheese biscuit rather than an English muffin. I didn't know one of my favorite dishes could be this good. And the staff were such a delight. We had Dave the bartender and he didn't just treat us well, he had us mouth watering from his recommendations and descriptions of the food.

Unconventional Diner is an upscale and comfortable diner. It has a hip, laid back sort of vibe. The food is incredibly delicious as are the espresso drinks. The menu features an eclectic mix of international style comfort foods and classic Americana with an elegant twist. Come, eat, drink — you won’t be disappointed.

Great vegan dinner date scene. There are several vegan options-enough to warrant a return trip to try them all. Our waiter was informed about ingredients and able to help us make modifications. The food was tasty and filling. We were served almost immediately even though it was busy. Blagden alley is right across the st for after dinner drinks.

We sat in the back dining area and were a little confused by the atmosphere. It felt a bit like we were dining in a university library-muted colors, brass fixtures, concrete floor, not quite enough lighting, and a bit low energy. It is spacious though for large groups. The space would benefit from better lighting or even some live music.

The front area is much more lively. It seems like the better place to sit if you want more energy however if you’re looking for space or dining with children the back area is more accessible.

We would definitely return for another round of dinner but wish more items on the menu were vegan. The dessert menu has sorbet but more options would be more enticing

I like the menu and how it's a diner but, as the name implies, has a twist of uncommon options. I had the fried rice and it was so well flavored and balanced! Absolutely delicious and I was very impressed. Where they lost a star for me is that they charged $2 to add a single fried egg on top. That's too much for a single egg (the rice comes without a protein so all are extra). Very fast and friendly service.

Unconventional Diner consistently serves up excellent food. Their fried chicken sandwich is superb, but sadly, it is not offered on every menu (not during weekend brunch, for example). Full bar makes this a hopping place throughout the week. “Sexy sauce” for the french fries is basically thousand island dressing and not much more. Difficult to negotiate subbing fries for something healthier.
