This restaurant is Asian-themed, and best enjoyed by seafood lovers, but it also treats vegetarians well. It's a Wolfgang Puck restaurant right behind the Newseum. He has a lot of restaurants, but I did get to meet him here once, so he cares enough to visit occasionally. They also provide decent wine selections and pairings.

Good take on Asian cuisine in the area. Dumplings I had (pork) were sadly not as good as I had hoped but pretty much every else from the lychee based Vodka drink to the amazing duck and drunken noodles was both unique and tasty.

For the nearly 10 years I've lived in the DC area I've considered The Source my favorite restaurant. The modern and upscale interior combined with superb and unique food made this a place I always looked forward to dining at when the opportunity arose. It had been a year or so since my last visit so I took a friend there last night (10/19/18) to introduce her to the restaurant I always rave about.

Well, something changed since my last visit. The interior is starting to feel a little dingy and in need of updating and a deep cleaning, particularly the carpet. The menu has changed in a way that I find both odd and irritating. Like at many steakhouses in the area, sides are no longer included in the price of an entree. All of the sides are listed under the category "from the wok". The options include drunken noodles, crab fried rice, and other items that seemed like odd sides to pair with the entrees. I understand the restaurant considers itself Asian Fusion but this side thing was disconcerting. I ended getting a side of crab fried rice for $18. It was very good. However, that made the cost of my meal $50+ for a piece of salmon and a single side. I'm pretty sure that's way more than the previous pricing with sides included.

Service continues to be outstanding. Everyone is super friendly, as has been the case for the last decade. And the food was good overall. It just didn't have the same clean, upscale, modern feel for some reason, which diminished my enthusiasm. The construction outside the Newseum right now also meant the blinds were kept mostly closed. Maybe that's part of it.

There are lots of places in the area to get a great meal for two people with a cocktail for under $150. I'm not sure I want to spend that much at The Source again. It's still worth visiting at least once for those who have never been.

Really wanted to give it a 4.5 star. The ambience was great and the food was well cooked in general. I usually don’t go to Asian fusion or Asian restaurant with western chef. This one seems to be an exception.
After we sat down and 10 minutes went by, no one gave us menu nor water, which was extremely uncommon and surprising; but after I told them so, the service during the dinner was very good. The waiter was very patient and attentive.
We ordered a duck for two and a fried rice. They first brought you the whole duck and explained how they are going to make it into two dishes. The duck was freshly cooked after we ordered and they brought it to us under 20 mins, which was very quick. The duck skin was very crispy and the duck meat was moist and tender. It went very well with the soft steam bun. The duck leg dish was kind of bland though. XO & crab meat fried rice with sweet corn was very tasty and I didn’t feel very heavy after eating it.
