Had the special Trigger fish over spaghetti squash. The tastes were subtle but fantastic. Steak tartar appetizer and a choice of Belgian beers made for a fabulous unplanned Saturday late brunch.
Brasserie Beck was great both times I visited. Happy hour offers a half dozen oysters for $9, and is more than worth it. The beer selection is small but exactly the right beers for the place. A dinner of mussels was more than I could eat after the oysters - the mussels were both large and delicious. Service was a tad slow in the bar on an early Friday evening but very friendly. Will return soon!
Phenomenal flavors. Fresh and well thought out dishes. A bit on the pricy side for beers (even happy hour beers can run ya $11 with $2 off) is the only reason I can't give 5 stars. But if you don't care, go treat yourself.
Went there for lunch with a friend, close to work, class and went there without reservation. Bread was great! Had the classic Oyster came in a delicious creamy broth with Vin Blanc and Avocado Scallops salad. Atmosphere was good, service was good. Little bit pricey, but excellent quality! I would recommend to go there and definitely go back there.
The Belgian waffles (as a dessert dish to dinner) were among the best I’ve had; quite proper for a Belgian restaurant. The flavor of the waffles themselves was special amazing; I couldn’t describe why. The texture was very crispy with an extra “crunchiness” to it. The light and tart apple sauce at the bottom and the light vanilla sorbet on top completed the balance of this dish, making it not too overly sweet and complex. The other two dishes were of similar high quality ( lettuce salad with fresh green leaves and well-balanced sauce; short ribs with a wonderful red wine reduction and mild mustard sauce on top). The bread was super fresh. I thought this would be a business-y place with average food, but I was pleasantly surprised ! The service was not bad but just average (they came to refill wine but water was spilled all over when pouring; no pick up for bread crumbs; no renewal of silverware etc). I would love to come back again to try other dishes.:) i love running into hidden gem like this. Kudos to the chef!!! Thank you !!
