For Mother's Day, we celebrated at San Matteo, the Petworth neighborhood Italian restaurant. I'd say that although you hear great things about SM, it made an outstanding first impression. We started with the Fristo and the octopus. Both were fabulous! We then ordered mains, lasagna, pasta with mushrooms, and the seafood manicotti. For desert fresh out of the pan tiramisu. Well worth the drive and the time
This was above average Italian! I had the lemon, spinach and ricotta ravioli and it was delicious. The pasta was clearly homemade and cooked well and the sauce had a delicate lemon flavor and was creamy with a great texture. The ricotta was also smooth and there was lots of it!
I would love to come back here and try other items on the menu!
So happy we stumbled upon this amazing restaurant! Food was INCREDIBLE and the service to match. We started with the mussels and Fritto Misto and I knew from there we were in for a treat. We could not say enough good things about every dish we tried! Definitely will be coming back on our next trip to DC
I have so many good things to say about this place!! My fiancé and I ate here last night to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and our expectations were exceeded. My fiancé is from Italy and said this places is exactly like home. Incredible homemade pastas. It’s so delicious I am still thinking about it today and cannot wait to go back. The prosciutto actually looks how it is supposed to look have not seen that anywhere else in DC. The decor is also gorgeous and it’s a wonderful quaint date spot. Also the service was wonderful everyone is so nice!
So excited to have this restaurant nearby in the Petworth neighborhood! My partner and I sat at the bar tonight and had a great experience. Ambiance 10/10. They were down a bartender tonight but despite that (and a bustling dinner service) were very attentive! Wine was great, food was incredible - we got the artichoke starter, squid ink pasta and the veal ragu. Can’t wait to go back and try more of the dishes.
