We had a terrific meal and service! And we love the location. We've been several times now. Their menu changes often to ensure the best and most fresh ingredients. Right now, in February, it's a completely different menu from when they first opened last summer. We feel like we are almost at a different place every time we come. The fried chicken is seriously the best! The staff are friendly and attentive (but not overly so). When you come to Navy Yard, you must try this place! It is absolutely worth it!

If you do go here make sure and make a reservation for the counter or the chef's table. You can see everything going on in the kitchen. I was stuck around the corner and felt left out. Food here is great, but i had regrets about the price. Dishes can be eaten alone, but are served with sharing in mind, cool. Menu can change day to day and its a good idea to get a reservation a few days ahead at least. Bill ended up at $60 per person with one alcoholic drink included in that price. Three of us shared 5 dishes. I can't say anything bad about the food, but i can be just as satisfied elsewhere for cheaper. I'd go back but maybe for restaurant week, or make sure I sit at the counter or chef's table. I fully support what they are doing at this establishment but I need a higher paying job before I can frequent this place.

My wife & I had dinner at Shilling during the the 2020 Winter DC Restaurant Week. We had the pleasure of sitting and the kitchen bar and being served by Katie, both I which I recommend for your visit. The customer service was excellent and the staff and chefs went out of their way to introduce themselves and the food. Speaking of the food, it was fantastic. Great colors, tastes, and textures from locally sourced dishes. The wine and cocktail selection is also very well done. We’re already planning our return.

It was a highly anticipated dining experience. I have been working as a cook for years and love keeping up with leading Chefs in the industry. When I found out that the Chefs who are running this restaurant trained with the finest master Chefs of the culinary field, I was excited to try their food.

When I got there, the front of the house staff greeted me with much warmth and I immediately felt welcomed. I made reservations at the Chefs table which gave me the opportunity to see them in action.

Incredible thing was that my water was always topped off. The server was knowledgeable and professional.

As a professional cook, I know the value of excellent ingredients. The quality of each component in the dishes were great and they came together nicely. Everything was very delicious. I ordered four different plates which filled me up and satisfied my curiosity.

I enjoyed spending my evening here and I can’t wait to try more dishes which I am sure I will love.

Try the flat bread. Hands down the best I ever had.

Food is outstanding..service is friendly and knowledgeable...we got to chat with the owner while seated at the chefs table and even chatted with the chefs cooking our dishes. Truly an exceptional overall experience! We will definitely take friends here again!
