V Pizza & SideCar - Gainesville

I’ll start out by saying the pizza here definitely deserves a 5 star review! Great flavors and plenty to share. The reason for my 3 star review is our experience. My boyfriend and I did not get off until late and I searched late night food (mind you this was at 9pm). V’s pizza on google and yelp said they were open until 12. We had never been here so perfect! We get to the restaurant at 9:30. Instead of being welcomed we looked around not sure if we should go to the bar for assistance or wait to be seated. A woman came up and said feel free to go to the bar. We asked for a booth. She said oh ok but you have to order by 10 because we close. No big deal. Not a great first vibe but we’ll deal. As we were sat she immediately asked what we would like. Since we’ve never been here we had no idea. She said she would come back. As we were looking over the menu you can hear the bartender go “seriously it’s 9:37.” At this point my boyfriend and I felt awkward and I even suggested we go to the top because at least we know their hours. We stayed and ordered and it was fast and delicious. 3 other groups came in after us. I’m assuming they also saw the time online as 12. One group was ultimately turned away. Just a frustrating situation that can easily be fixed and should be. ( if it’s bar only from 10-12 mention that on your availability). I definitely will come back and now that I am aware of the hours it will not be later in the evening. Just thought this might help prevent others from the same first experience.

After reading great reviews of V Pizza here in Jax, I decided to give them a try while I was in Gainesville recently.
They're located right in the heart of downtown - great location. Parking can be hard to find, but there's a public garage close by.
The interior is very industrial & modern. There is a large bar (Sidecar) located on one side with plenty of seating. Their cocktail menu looked very inviting!
Our server was very attentive, our salads were delicious - the only thing wrong was the pizza. What should have been the star of the night - was not quite up to par. I love thin crust pizza, but this crust had no bite at all. It flopped over when I tried to pick it up. Toppings were sparse - I counted 6 mushroom pieces on the entire pizza. The cheese & sauce were good - so the pie wasn't a total loss.

My first visit, I wasn't a fan of the pizza but over time, it's become our favorite pizza in town. The spicy calabrese sauce on any pizza is fantastic. The drinks are delicious, and they have valet and outdoor seating. What's not to love??

Went there for the first time today and was completely blown away. The pizza was excellent! The wings were excellent and so was the Mac and cheese. Will definitely go back.

This is the best pizza place in Gainesville for Italian style pizza. The service is excellent, the drink selection is good, and the cannoli is great. I've been a fair amount of times and never had a single issue with any order. The atmosphere is pretty modern with an open kitchen with the ovens on full display. Great spot for a date or maybe trivia with friends.
