Fantastic food, friendly service, and great prices! I had never heard of this place before, but when I asked Google for restaurants near me and this popped up, I knew right away I would be going to Chunky's! The menu has a wide variety of fried items including fish, shrimp, hush puppies, chicken tenders, etc, but I opted for the gyro sandwich combo, and wound up getting a side of falafel, as well as some funnel cakes to eat for dessert. Everything was so good! Portions were more generous than I had thought and I wound up getting stuffed, but I would gladly repeat the experience in a future trip to Gainesville!
We live on the other side of Gainesville so don't get to go here often but always enjoy when we do. Our favorite thing is the Lamb and beef gyros. I get the combination with fries and salad. My other favorite is the livers and gizzards. My hubby tried the catfish nuggets and liked them.
The best "yeeros" on this side of town. You can't go wrong with Chunky's for lunch. On top of that the service is always great.
The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is that the drive through and parking lot are sort of hard to navigate. The food is really good, with lots of southern favorites like fried okra, burgers, and wings. They also have really good gyros and tzatziki sauce. The kids love their chicken tenders, too. Be ready for a short wait, though, as they are popular and make everything from scratch while you wait.
This is my first visit; the lady at the front was friendly and helpful. I had the lamb gyro with fries --- very good! The fries are fresh and seasoned. The lamb gyro has plenty of meat with lettuce, tomato (which was firm and not squishy; yeah!!), and lots of tzatziki. The sweet tea is just right, not too sweet like syrup or too bitter.
The meal (gyro, fries, and drink) is fairly large.
