Las Carretas Mexican Restaurant Gainesville

The layout is different from most restaurants, but offers a wide variety of seating. There are multi levels, covered outdoor seating, and even a large booth on the stair landing. It is decorated with vibrant Mexican inspired poster prints.

There is a large drink and food menu that will satisfy any Mexican food craving you have. There were a few American sandwiches that satisfied our younger kids appreciated. The food servings were large and plentiful. The steak fajitas feed me and my 14 year old son, with enough leftovers for 1 more tortilla. They even have a salsa bar with a variety of options. It also has the pickled carrots, onions, and peppers on the bar. Something I miss from California and AZ Mexican places.

David provided our family of 6 with wonderful, friendly service. He always had a smile and encouraged our son to practice his Spanish with him. The manager also stopped by to make sure everything was good and made sure we didn’t need anything else.

Food was incredible! The house salsa was great and had some good heat, and the Guacamole was made fresh at the table. The service was great. Our server was Monica. She was very pleasant and not at all phased by our party of 11. I ordered the Tacos de Lengua on her recommendation and they knocked em out of the park! So good! 10/10 highly recommended!

We stopped here for dinner while visiting the area.

We started off with a side of the Gruamole. They make it at your table. It was fresh and very delicious.  I highly recommend the Gruamole for starters.

We went a few days before Christmas and they were offering $5 Margaritas. The Margaritas were refreshing, perfectly made and delicious.

We ordered the Burrito Deluxe and Master Fajita. Both meals were delicious and perfectly cooked.  They are generous with their portions so you get a great value for the portion sizes.

We also tried  3 of of the Salsas which all had different flavors and temperatures and they were all delicious.

All of the staff were nice and friendly and very attentive. As it was close to Christmas,  they handed out Christmas gift bags to everyone. The bags were full of wonderful candies from Mexico.

Overall we has a great dinning experience.

This is One of the best Mexican restaurants in this location. I would recommend any of their food or margaritas with the fresh fruit. I’ve never gotten a bad drink or meal from here.
Sometimes depending on the server and how many tables they have the can get busy and not get back to your table right away but that’s only occasionally. The manager is very hands on and I was impressed with him moving from table to table checking on every customer while being very attentive to all his staff and their sections. (Kitchen, front desk, bar, etc) he needs a raise for sure.

I would offer more bean dip with the chips while you wait for your food. Never enough for the amount of chips given.
