Joella's Hot Chicken

First time visiting here and the dining room had one family ahead of us waiting on their food, everyone else had been served. But it wasn’t busy. Was placing our order and told that the food we wanted would take an additional 15 minutes to make, so we decided to order something else that we were told is “ready to go” and wouldn’t take additional time. 20 minutes later, still no food, other people have ordered after us and been served already. When we went to the counter to ask everyone was just standing around and were told that they must have forgot. And that would have been fine, would have been nicer if they just cane out and said it instead of making excuses first then admitting it, but stuff happens. I expected at that point that we’d get our food relatively quickly after that, but more people came and got served their food again. It was just under 50 minutes from the time we ordered until we got our food. Which was a shame because it’s a nice, clean, new restaurant and the food was decent, but the service needs improvement. We did go back and try this place again, and it was a little better. Not “fast” food, and there wasn’t anything that I really would want to go back for. But it’s clean and the location is good. Hope they can work out the kinks.

The chicken was tasty. Portion was on the small side for the price.

The process to get the chicken was long. There were a lot of people in the kitchen, but the time between ordering to getting served was long. When I say a lot of people in the kitchen, the place busy that day and there were easily at least a 1:1 ratio of table to employee in that kitchen. The price was a bit high too for what feels like just another fast food chicken joint.

My opinion, this is a fast food restaurant trying to give a full service restaurant experience, but as the consumer, seeing employees standing around not doing anything while I am still waiting did not feel like the place I want to frequent.

This could have just been that they had just recently opened and there were a lot of trainees, not sure but we actually haven't been back because the experience left a pretty lasting impression.

Such a great restaurant! The service is friendly and the food is great! We will definitely be back! My favorite is southern tenders with Bama white dipping sauce. Great collards and mac n cheese! You gotta get some pie in a jar!
