Fred's Market Restaurant

This place is definitely a go to restaurant when it comes to down-home Southern Cooking! My wife and I literally travel 30 to 45 minutes to come and have a traditional meal served by great people and the menu items on the buffet are completely self serve from the original pots that they use to cook them in the the back kitchen. Everything is authentic and homemade from the Southern Fried Chicken to the fried fish and also Skillet cornbread, macaroni and cheese, rutabagas, collard greens, even grits, brown gravy and also okra and tomatoes are on the buffet! There is an awesome salad bar here also with at least 30 or more items to choose from as well as all the toppings, and then the dessert bar is truly addictive as all the down-home favorites are here including sweet potato pie, Strawberry Shortcake and pecan pie along with peach cobbler, banana pudding, Strawberry Shortcake even the apple pie and Cherry Pie topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. The restaurant itself is historic in Plant City with two other locations to choose from as well but this is always been our favorite as I believe it is the original, there are even souvenirs here that you can buy to take home and the staff is so friendly and helpful and always well-informed ready to give you the down-home charm that has made them famous!

Food was delicious! The wait time was minimal even though it was a busy night and the staff was very friendly and polite. If you're looking for great southern comfort food this is the place to go. Check the specials before you go. We ended up there on "kids eat free" night(by accident) which was a plus for us. My kids are picky eaters and they loved the food as well! My new favorite buffet place!

Not too far from McCall Park - Plant City historic downtown area. If you're from out of town and want to eat good southern food, Fred's is a must. Always packed so expect a wait. At this particular Fred's location there is a sister restaurant beside it for bbq. Fred's is an all you can eat buffet. Greens, grits, beef, fried catfish, black eyed peas, chicken of course just to name a few items. All of it tasty. Oh yeah...park where you can as it's always a draw and parking is usually limited. The food is worth it!

Phenomenal and affordable. Friendly staff. We’re from SC and have had plenty of southern buffets, but in our 4 decades, this is our favorite. Fresh veggies, well seasoned and not over cooked, meat if you want it. At least 3 dozen sides and 4-6 main meat/fish entrees. Cheaper price for vegetarians. Great kids meal pricing. We will be back!!

We try to go to Fred's at least once a month, mostly for breakfast, but occasionally for lunch. They have a delicious southern food buffet that is only about $11 for all you can eat. They have so much food to choose from. Everyone will find something they like. (even vegans) Wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff as well. I always recommend this place to visiting family and friends!!!!!
