I like traditional Sichuan food and am familiar with how many of the dishes should taste. Overall the food is pretty good, but the portion sizes are quite small considering the price ($16 for many dishes). Below is a review of the dishes I tried so far (to go).
Very good dishes:
- Sliced beef and tendon. Very tasty, tastes traditional.
- Chicken salad with hot chili sauce. Spicy and tasty.
- Fish fillet Szechuan style. I think it’s the best in Tallahassee.
- Chilly chicken. Crunch, spicy, salty. The way it should be.
- Chicken with hot chili pepper sauce. I think this is a Hunan style dish, with pickled chili sauce. It's good but the meat is sliced by saw, so it has many small bones.
So-so dishes:
- Mapo tofu. Kind of bland, not spicy enough.
- Hot and sour soup. Not much meat and crunchy stuff in it.
- Cumin beef. Kind of soggy and not spicy and cuminy enough.
The spicy chili chicken is the best American Chinese food item I have EVER had. It is consistent with the perfect crunch and default spice level. Unfortunately, it is so EXCELLENT that I cannot order anything else. Also, ask for the spicy oil. They never make a mistake including it.
