Avalon has become one of our favorite seafood restaurants between either Miami or New York. We have visited twice and were delighted both times. We often make a first impression by when the bread arrives. We received a basket of wonderful bread with a very nice hummus.
The grilled octopus starter is incredibly good. (Save some bread for dipping in the dressing.) For entrees, we ordered the miso glazed sea bass and crab crusted grouper. Both are beautifully prepared. Very delicious overall. For dessert, the chef’s cheesecake is outstanding. Our waiter was attentive, efficient, and very courteous. We need to come back more often!
You need to try this restaurant! The food is exquisite and the service is unbeatable. Volker was our server and I must say, I have never experienced better service. You would think based on the food and the location and the service and the ambiance of the restaurant that it would be quite expensive, but it's not! It is very reasonable and you definitely get more than your money's worth. If you want to experience the best of South Beach dining then I highly recommend A Fish Called Avalon!!!
Delicious fresh seafood that will melt in your mouth. We visited on a Saturday night and sat on the patio. The hostess and servers were welcoming and attentive. We ordered a bottle of wine, the bang bang shrimp, and the orzo seafood paella for two. The food was excellent. The paella was moist and included mussels, clams, shrimp, scallops, and lobster tails. This paella did not stand a chance. If you want fresh seafood, be sure to visit!
This is a fantastic gourmet seafood restaurant! If you are a foodie, you will love this place. My server was Victor. He was very attentive and a pleasure to meet. In fact, the entire staff are professionals. World-class service. I ordered the mussels and sesame seared tuna which were simply amazing (not to mention their very tasty hot, homemade bread). The live flamenco music was the perfect compliment. Well worth the premium price. Highly recommended!
What a fun dining experience! We were a party of four and between the food. Wine. Ambience we were in heaven. We sat on the patio and were entertained by the crowds walking by. The music was fantastic too. Think Gypsy Kings. If you want great Seafood. Come here!
