Went with a group of friends while taking a trip to the keys and the food was fantastic for a small place. Super service and I'd recommend for anyone to sit outside when they've got a performance! I had to take time away from my group to enjoy.
We are not locals, however, the many many times we've visited Shipwrecks we felt like we were hence we've always been treated as such. Nonetheless, this evening took a sudden downward spiral. Service was blah, oysters had a funny taste and we were told that seven dozens were previously sold and no one had mentioned anything about a funny taste. What was supposed to be the all you can eat Hog Fish, was served on a "Dish" that was called a "Basket" therefore, it lost the "all you can eat" category. I paid by credit card, and I only had the merchant slip to sign and the itemized receipt, I was told that the itemized receipt was my credit slip. It is unfortunate that such a wonderful place was spoiled by the one bad apple, we are hoping that if and when we visit again, the one bad apple is out and about back behind the bar and let one of the other tentative, courteous and knowledgeable servers do what they always done, Good Service.
The coconut onion rings were excellent in every level, first, they were made fresh from scratch and never frozen, cooked perfectly and we were actually about to break off sections of the rings to dip them without the batter falling off or pulling the whole ring out of its casing...flavor was the best part thought. Jalapeno peppers were also never frozen made fresh and really good! The scallops weren't overcooked. The sweet potato fries were not raw and not overcooked. All in all the food was excellent and the prices far less than I was expecting to pay in the keys. Great hangout spot.
It’s a hole in the wall on the water with surprisingly tasty food. The service is great. You can pull up on your boat and have some beers and food after a day on the water. The prices are very good more of a locals spot than a tourist one. Nothing fancy just good food at good prices.
Quaint and straight to the point. The no- nonsense hidden restaurant you all need when you want to get away from the hustle and bustle. You may sit inside or you may sit outside and enjoy the water. The food is good in its own right. The tuna that I ordered was especially good. The lobster soup my wife ordered was excellent.
