Alonzo's Oyster Bar

Sean was our waiter. He was excellent. The service was great. I only had a Caesar salad with chicken. I ordered a grilled by accident. I normally order it blackened, but he had written it down so I have to assume it was right but the chicken was just a hair overcooked. I had to use a knife to cut it when normally I could use a fork other than that, it’s a nice restaurant on the water, plenty of ambience they make a chowder that was excellent. It was a little too spicy for my wife and then that’s when she went with the clam chowder which she said was fantastic.

Definitely stop here for amazing and fresh seafood in Key West! We ordered the seafood tower and it did not disappoint. Favorites were the oysters, peel and eat shrimp, and calamari salad. Ordered the Caribbean Lobster tail for my entree and it was very tender with great flavor. Will definitely be back the next time I’m in Key West!

Alonzo’s has a nice happy hour menu from 4-6p. I ordered the Pirates Punch for a drink. To eat I ordered Warm Crab and Shrimp Dip and a 1/2 Pound Peel and Eat Shrimp.

The Pirates Punch was a tropical mixture of fruit juices and rum, both light and dark. It wasn’t too sweet at all and was so refreshing drinking in the warm weather.

The Warm Crab and Shrimp Dip was more cream cheesy than anything. The chips were stale, which I’m sure because of how hot it is here is something that cannot be avoided.

The 1/2 Peel and Eat Shrimp can be served chilled or warm. I chose warm which it is steamed in a beer and butter mixture and what tasted like Old Bay seasoning. They were so good and I had wished I ordered a full pound.
