Backwaters on Sand Key

Great place. Relaxed atmosphere.
Good food and drinks and oysters.
Grouper nuggets and seafoodtini is a must!

We went to Backwaters because we had went a while back and enjoyed it, along with that it had been recommended to us by others as well. I must say that it lives up to the reputation it has developed. The restaurant wasn’t the cleanest, although the food makes up for that. Our waitress was very kind and served us with little trouble. We ordered drinks and got them within a minute or two. We waited about 18 minutes until our food came. The food was excellent, one of our group loved the lobster bisque. Our experience at Backwaters was great and we will be returning many times over to enjoy the amazing food.

We were staying at the Marriott Sand Key and a large group (18 guests) dropped in here for dinner. At first, the host told us that we could not be seated for 45 minutes to 1 hour. However, they were able to seat us in about 5 minutes. Great services and good seafood. Some of the blackened grouper or seafood combination dinners had too much seasoning for some of our group's taste

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food was fantastic. We were very pleasantly surprised. Both of our meals were great (the salmon piccata special and the hog fish dinner), dessert was great, and our waitress was fantastic (Taylor?). Everything she recommended was awesome and the service was great. Four dollar sangria special is hard to beat as well. Definitely recommend.
