Cant have a bad time there!
First time here. It looks like a small, restaurant and bar until they walk you out back. It has a large, roomy outdoor area under a huge oak tree and a long bar with seating nearby. The view and outside are refreshing but the bar crowd is a bit loud (happy loud). If you want a quieter spot ask to be seated by the outer tables.
Food and drinks are good, a bit pricey and small, but tasty. Ice tea and sodas are $3 which include refills but the glasses are tall thin so I was constantly getting refills. A cup of soup is $5 and again while tasty, small for this price. You can check the menu online. Friends had salad, mushroom tacos, and burgers. They all enjoyed them.
I will warn you that the outside area has a boardwalk, gravel, and uneven areas. If you are drinking or wearing heels or not paying attention you might misstep. Better to watch where your walking.
One thing if you decide to go here expect to be here over an hour maybe closer to almost 2 hours. While its great to talk and catch up with friends the food takes forever to come out. Again we only had easy stuff, burgers & fries, salad, tacos, and soup. It was really good when it came but slow. I noticed the kitchen is tiny so maybe that's why or they were short staffed.
The crowd and atmosphere was great and I will return. Our server was funny, attentive and really added to our time here.
I give this place a 5 star due to the atmosphere. Inside is relaxing and outside is perfect for mingling. The front door bouncer is awesome. He makes anyone feel welcome. If I could give advice for improvement I would have to say the outside bartenders are a bit overwhelmed on busy nights. Maybe a beer tub away from the main bar would help with congestion and what seems to be frustration on their faces would help. For those of us who keep it light and don't want to wait 30 min for a beer, something like that would increase revenue and consumer satisfaction. Absolutely place and is great for when I gather all my employees to go and enjoy the night. Thank you for a great place to frequent.
Terrible service over and over. We just love the food and the atmosphere but the service is always awful any time of day or night. We've put our name in for a table and had them lose it - twice. We've waited much longer than the estimated time - 3 or more times. We've waited endlessly for service once getting a table - multiple times.
The manager is really surly about the service the two times I've complained. Last time he kind of challenged me to come see their tiny kitchen so I would understand the problem. First - just tell me without the challenge. Second - if you've expanded beyond the capacity of your kitchen - let fewer people in or change the menu to speed up service. But don't bully the diners.
Why do we still go to Kelly's? Great crowd, beautiful outdoor sections under an ancient oak tree, and often really great food. I hope the owner can solve this so the service can match the setting.
