I have lived here all my life. And my parents went so it's probably close to 100 years old yet it is quaint. It is historic. Thd food is outstanding. Its casual. There is handicapped parking. Outdoor eating pretty much picnic style, like back in the day. Not expensive. And if you are not full or you really love it as most of us do. They have a Fish Smoke House on Property so you can buy more to go. Anything from Fish Spread to Smoked Salmon by the pound. This is truly a remarkable establishment. That everyone who eats fish must try. It's right on Pasadena Blvd. You cant miss it!!! They do not sell gift certificates.
The smoked mullet and potato salad and coleslaw was excellent. I love their smoked fish. The service was very good to. My only ding would be that the bathrooms could be made a little more presentable or upgraded. They weren't bad but they could use a fresh coat of paint.
I saw Ted Peter's featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and was super excited cause I was going to be visiting St. Pete's in December and it looked like a great place to eat. Make sure you Map where you are going, cause you think the place is going to be on a sandy beach, no it's actually on a very busy 4 lane road. If you blink, you drove by. The buildings reminds me of a an old Boy Scout camp located in Wisconsin. Park anywhere you see a space in the grassy sand parking lot.
There is outdoor and indoor seating with the building next door for carryout.
I recommend sitting outdoors to soak up some sun and atmosphere. Waitresses and bus boys are super friendly and will bring you samples to try if you are unsure. I get the whole dinner and do NOT share! It's that yummy. They serve Burgers for people who are not fans of smoked fish, though one comes for the FISH.
Their Key Lime Pie is made fresh and worth the extra calories. YEP, I wish this one was located closer to my home town.
***CASH ONLY!*** I would recommend $50 for 2 people, 2 drinks and a shared piece of pie plus tip.
So glad I stopped in here! Great foodie experience with smoked fish. Server kept my tea full and gave me a good run down on the food and history of the place. Good prices for what you get too. Sampled the fish spread and it was delicious. Not a fan of fish spreads but this one was the first I would considering ordering. The slaw was okay, but not the vinegar based slaw I prefer. The red skin potato salad was excellent and hearty with a full flavor. Amd of course the smoked fish was amazing. I had the mackerel. Great texture and smoke flavor while keeping the fish flavor and the natural oil of the mackerel, yet the fish was not oily. Fillet was done nicely as only a couple bones were found. I will surely return as for this Texas soul turned Floridian will call this the coastal version of Texas BBQ. Nicely done!
