DO NOT STAY in the Hibiscus or Magnolia room if you want any kind of relaxation, peace, or quiet! The Hibiscus room door has an open space above it with slits and allows for noise to easily get in. Closing the space up might help with some noise. This particular building is very old and the walls are paper thin, the floors and creaky and the cafe is directly below the Hibiscus and Magnolia rooms. You can hear every single time the bell rings when the cafe door is opened. You can also hear every time anyone is walking up and down the stairs (echoes loudly). Additionally, you can hear the screen door slam (exactly 3 times) when anyone enters or exits the front cafe door. It echoes loudly when the door is being closed by the people staying in the next room too. AJ's (bar & grill) is located directly next to these rooms and you can hear people from there being loud until 1AM. We litterally had no sleep. So much for a relaxing weekend away.... I don't guess there's too much that can be done to mitigate noise, so if noise is an issue, I'd suggest staying in other rooms. Small things- the sheets/pillowcases need replacing as I saw in an earlier review. They have bleached spots and have holes in places. There is an open vent adjoining our room and bathroom that needs to be closed off for privacy. It has a metal cover with slits that you can see right through into the bathroom, so if someone is in the bathroom with the light on, it shines into the bedroom. Also, the floors could use a good cleaning/mopping. The bottoms of our feet became dirty from walking on the bare wooden floors and we had to wipe our feet clean. This is actually a nice little place with a lovely courtyard, old southern theme, and great location but we will definitely stay in another room away from the cafe area on the other side of the property next time. The staff are all friendly, accommodating, and hospitable. If we stay again and things have improved, I'll change my rating.

We stayed in the Woodpecker Cottage and loved it! It's perfect for a couple ... it's private, cozy and cute. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast was so delicious (I recommend the Waffle Wonderful and the Baked Frittata). The location is perfect, just a short bike ride to the beach, restaurants and shopping. We will definitely be back!
