The food is worth the risk. Too bad that the current national staffing shortage has effected the reviews of such a great place to dine.
Our dinner was outstanding, all 3 entrees were fantastic. Grouper was great, corn with peppers side complimented well. Filet was great, cut like butter, nice sauce, my son (11yo) got the fries with it. Short ribs were also great, very tender.
Our server did great with recommendations on appetizers. Their version of Bang bang shrimp was cooked perfectly. My 7 yo daughter was competing with me for the last few shrimp. Bacon was tasty.

Server recommended the seafood acadiana...it was AWESOME! Wife had grouper-shared clothesline bacon-key lime and banana pudding cheesecake foe dessert. Best meal all week!

Surfing Deer resides in a prime location, boasts great service and fine dining atmosphere, and most of all delivers a high quality seafood dish!! We enjoyed the grilled gulf shrimp, fried oysters and grilled grouper. Balanced flavor and seasoning made each bite enjoyable! A courteous staff makes you feel welcome despite a packed house. Reservations strongly recommended during the peak summer season.
