My taste buds have never tasted food this good. Am I being over dramatic? I think not. Walking up to the doors you are greeted by lovely Italian music. Once inside you are greeted by a very friendly staff. You order at the counter and they will bring your food to you once it’s finished. The menu has something for everyone. There is also a lovely alcoholic and non alcoholic beverage selection. I had the chicken parmigiana and my fiancé had the meatball sub. The chicken had a perfect crisp and was seasoned nicely and the sauce and cheese were both phenomenal. The noodles were a complete experience. I have never had noodles of that caliber. The taste and texture were something I can only imagine you’d get in an authentic Italian kitchen. The meatball sub was incredible. The bread was so soft and fresh. The meatballs had to have been authentic Italian meatballs. I’ve never had meatballs that good. The sauce and cheese on top of the meatballs were both outstanding. I wish we had tried the tiramisu but we will be back soon!! This is personally my favorite new spot. The vibe is very casual so go as you are and have yourself the most incredible meal in one of the most beautiful restaurants in Canton.
Food:
Chicken Parm Sandwich was good, not great. The chicken, albeit a cutlet, was underseasoned and rubbery. Breading also was okay at best. It did leave the meat to bread ratio- off. The saving grace here was the sauce 👍 The bread though, fantastic!
Not pictured, The B-Sting Sandwich. This was my first go at a sandwich here. Huge let down. Looking for more 'crisp' to the crispy chicken. Hot honey slaw was bland as could be. Needed to ask for additional spicy mayo to get down this dry sandwich.
Mushroom pasta. Boy, does this look fantastic. I saw this around the dining room on the first visit. I wouldn't normally order this off the menu, but it looked amazing, so I did order it on the second visit. Underseasoned and underwhelming. The cream sauce needed salt to begin with. The mushrooms were just okay. And I could barely tell there was any Pecorino. Pasta itself, A+
Ceasar dressing, way too fishy. I love ceasar dressing, but heavy-handed on the anchovies...and yes, folks, anchovies are in 99% of every ceasar dressing you've had. It's even in Worcestershire sauce, which is often in ceasar dressing, wink-wink.
Meatballs are tender and flavorful 🙌
Ricotta toast with bananas. Good, not great.
Zero check backs to the table after ordering to ensure the meal is satisfactory, or if anything additional is needed.
Cashiers haven't been completely educated on the menu it seems.
Menu is pricey for counter service.
Had such high hopes. May visit again down the road 🤷♂️
Went here today for the first time. It's a counter serve restaurant where you order at the counter and they bring the food to you which I actually really like.
Seems like a family owned business and that they actually care about the quality of food and overall service which was much appreciated.
The chicken parmesan pasta was excellent and I noticed that many people around me ordered it, so it must be very popular.
My wife got the kale salad and said it was really good also.
My only suggestion would be to include some kind of bread either with the pasta entree or at the table with some olive oil or something to dip it in. Adding this, would take it up a notch.
Fantastic lunch at POPS in Canton. Their pasta machine is down but I was able to try their awesome sausage and pepper sandwich. Plus some pasta salad. Also, this building is gorgeous. They have done a good job. Shout out to Andy for greeting us and making sure we were taken care of and satisfied.
What now resides in the old Jones Mercantile building, is a wonderfully family owned and operated Italian resistant. I am so glad to see such a wonderful business in downtown canton! Food is phenomenal, especially for the price point. Parking is going to be tight, but it’s well worth it. I think this has become all of downtown Canton’s new lunch spot! (not complaining)
Thank you for giving the community another way to support local. I not longer have to cook chicken parm, or spend $22 at a corporation that doesn’t actually care about food quality!
This place is going to be here for a long time, and I so look forward to it! Please stop by and give them a try, it is well worth it!
